Little Black Dresses

How many of you can remember going to the movies and seeing your favorite starlet in that magical little black dress. In the movies of the 50s it could be a tailored little black dress and today it can be a diva little black dress. Whatever the style it is essential for a ladies’ wardrobe to have that special little black dress.

You can find them offered in any style today. The ever popular halter dress offers you style and comfort. The strapless style is a little more daring but, a well manufactured one is made to stay in place while still being comfortable to wear. One of my favorites is the spaghetti strap little black dress. This is comfortable and secure and is sure to catch the eye of your favorite guy.

Enough about the bodice, let’s talk about the style of skirt. Of course, we have the straight skirt that will compliment either bodice. We have the gathered skirt, the straight skirt, the skirt of tulle, the slinky skirt and the now popular handkerchief skirt.

As far as length, really anything goes. To me, after considering the style, the skirt should be whatever length you’re comfortable with, from knee length to mini. You be the judge of how it looks on you and how it makes you feel. If you will be dancing while wearing your sexy little black dress you might want to rehearse the type dance while wearing the dress to be sure you will remain modest and little mysterious.

Now let’s talk about the fabric for your little black dress. Again, consider the style and length you have selected. The straight skirt would be wonderful in satin, taffeta, crepe, or silk. The slinky skirt would work in jersey or spandex blend. The full skirt is great in tulle, taffeta, satin or a chiffon or georgette overlay.

With all the styles, lengths, and fabrics there is a sexy little black dress for ladies of any size. Plus size little black dresses are just as stylish and attractive as the smaller sizes. No longer do you have two different styles for the two size ranges. Who said that plus size ladies do not look as wonderful as their smaller sisters? Or, that they care less about how they look? The truth is as long as you are comfortable with the little black dress you are wearing and you feel beautiful in that special dress you will have a glow and a beauty that will far outshine your size.

So, ladies, whatever the style, length, fabric or size you must have a special little black dress, that is unique to you, hanging in your closet ready for that invitation to the next wonderful event.
